Company profile

Faces S.p.A.

Faces S.p.A., an acronym for Fonderia Acciai Comuni e Speciali (Common and Special Steel Foundry), was established in 1977 by a group of private entrepreneurs. Since the early 1990s, with a strong focus on continuous improvement and customer satisfaction, the company has invested extensively across all business areas. These investments include the expansion and optimization of production facilities, the acquisition of state-of-the-art equipment, and continuous staff training. Faces S.p.A. has specialized in the production of stainless-steel castings and nickel-based alloys, achieving an annual output of over 1,500 tons of finished castings, with individual weights ranging from 20 to 5,000 kg.

Since 2007, the company has complemented the extensive experience of its personnel with the MAGMA® casting simulation system, enabling the optimization, acceleration, and improvement of casting system design. The foundry operates with a 5,000-7,500 kg AOD converter, allowing the production of high-quality materials, particularly Duplex, Super Duplex, and nickel-based alloys. For high-quality heat treatment processes, the company uses two modern furnaces equipped with an automatic discharge system, capable of meeting the stringent NORSOK standards.

TUV Italia, LR, DNV, and BV are recognized testing, inspection, and certification bodies, offering a comprehensive range of services to enable companies to operate in compliance with applicable laws anp standards.

The NORSOK standard is based on international standards, with additional key requirements added fo address the needs and environmental impacts of the oil industry.

Assofond is the trade association representing Italian foundry companies. Founded in 1948, its aim is to develop the technological and economic know-how of its member companies.

Work processes

Engineering

Thanks to the use of software technologies, it is possible to create models and simulate castings:

  • Casting simulation with MAGMA® MAGMASOFT software
  • 3D CAD design with SOLIDWORKS
  • Co-design service for casting optimization

Molding and core making

Molding, in foundry processes, is the preparation of the mold - the container into which the metal will be poured.

  • Process with phenolic-urethane resin
  • Frame sizes ranging from 600 x 600 mm fo 3,000 x 3,000 mm
  • High-speed mixer IMF T36/15 S
  • High-speed mixer IMF T36/10 on Fast Loop system
